Happy Thursday!
I wanted to give you a quick update on where we are with The GENUINE Project.
First, as the result of your kind and generous donations, we are just $5140 from having this project completely funded to do free performances for ten schools and
Junior college communities. Thank you!!!
I'm in talks with several schools and I've decided to make a few changes. Instead of performing these shows only during the first quarter of 2026, I'm going to expand the window to the entire calendar year of 2026. This gives the schools more flexibility to schedule as they can plan performances for next fall when they set their theater schedules for the 2026-2027 school year..
I performed the show at the Sofia Theater in Sacramento to a
standing ovation and a request to add some schools in their area to my schedule so, instead of just the 9 Bay Area counties, I'm going to add Sac as well. If you are connected to a high school or junior college with a theater that would like this play free of charge next year, please have them reach out to me. I'm still looking for schools in the San Jose and Santa Rosa areas as well. They should email me at BrianCopelandShow@gmail.com ASAP.
Finally, as I said, we need just $5140 to reach the finish line. I appreciate your generosity and I'd appreciate it if you would continue to spread the words to friends, family and co-workers and ask them to contribute. If your company believes in the importance of diversity and in preserving the voices and lived experiences of people of color in America, please ask them to help out. We'd appreciate any financial assistance we can
get.
NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN began as a one man show. Now it's a MOVEMENT. It is a cultural act of RESISTANCE and REMEMBRANCE.
It's the story of every Black kid who was told he didn't belong.
It's coming back because it's the story that America needs to be told again.
Please help me reach the finish line and raise this final $5140. To help, please click here:
