WE DID IT!
I'd like to thank you all very much for your generous support. We did it! We raised enough to bring NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN to ten Bay Area high school and college communities during this very difficult and divisive time when the stories and contributions of people of color are being literally erased from libraries, military cemeteries and even the Smithsonian.
There are several schools currently
working on scheduling to see when they can fit the show in before the end of 2026. Thanks to you, all shows are free to the schools and there is no admission. The only rules are that the performance is open to anyone in the community, free of charge, whether they have connections with the institutions or not.
The first three schools are scheduled and shows start soon. They begin with my alma mater, MOREAU CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL in Hayward, on Saturday, February 7 at 7 PM.
Shows are
free, but you need to sign up so that they know how many folks to expect.
For Moreau, go HERE.
BISHOP O'DOWD HIGH SCHOOL in Oakland will present the show on Saturday, February 21 at 7 PM. Reserve your seats HERE.
NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN will be at JAMES LOGAN SCHOOL in Union City on Sunday, March 22 at 2 PM.
Reserve your seats HERE.
NOTE: THIS SHOW IS FOR AGES 14 AND UP AND CONTAINS SCENES OF VIRULENT RACISM, ADULT LANGUAGE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
There are still spots left, so if you'd like the show brought to your high school or college community free of charge, reach out to me right away.
This run we'll do schools in the 9 Bay Area Counties and Sacramento between now and the end of the year.
Thanks so much for your support. Right now we're planning on ten schools. The GoFundMe will remain open for donations and if we raise more, we'll go more places and do more schools.
I'd also like to mention that I am offering the schools a bonus. I'm giving them the option of a post-show reception. For this the school will charge $100 per ticket and I'll do a meet and greet with appetizers after the performance.
100% OF THESE RECEPTION FUNDS GO DIRECTLY TO THE SCHOOL TO USE HOWEVER THEY SEE FIT. THE ONLY
CAVEAT IS THAT THE MONEY HAS TO BE USED TO PROMOTE DIVERSITY IN SOME WAY.
Someone recently said that "Truth Dies In Darkness." I disagree.
Truth dies in SILENCE.
Come out and hear my story and send your friends and neighbors.
Bless you!
