Happy Weekend!
It's been a crazy week of rehearsals, performances, writing and doing my best to keep up on the Trump impeachment hearings.
In addition...here's what I've been up to this week:
READING
ATOMIC HABITS
By James Clear
This is a really interesting book on how we become who we are by the tiny habits we have, be they positive or negative. It's great in that it lays out a system for improving or changing the habits you already have just a tiny bit at a time.
We humans are an impatient species that demands instant gratification. If we decide to lose weight or quit smoking, we want the end result now. This book talks about how micro habits add up and are like compound interest. If you improve 1% a day on something, in 100 days you've doubled your mastery of it.
Clear gives examples on how to change behavior as it relates to how you behave, finance and even relationships with micro changes in what you do.
DEFINITELY READ.
EATS
Folks who have been kind enough to contribute $1500 or more to the GoFundMe campaign to provide THE WAITING PERIOD, my show on depression and suicide prevention for free at the Marsh (you can make your tax deductible contribution here) get a dinner with me. On Wednesday night, my daughter Carolyn and I hosted a lovely couple from Berkeley at an eatery in their own town.
Lalime's serves a combination Californian-Mediterranean style cuisine that's just wonderful. At our dinner we had everything from lamb chops to salmon to one of their signature vegetarian dishes and everything was just superb.
They also serve a Sunday brunch that you should definitely check out if you're in the area.
Lalime's is located at 1329 Gilman Street in Berkeley. Reservations are recommended.
GO.
PODCAST
THE EMPIRE SHOW
Craig Ballantyne and Bedros Keuilian
I've recommended the book THE PERFECT DAY FORMULA by Craig Ballantyne in this space before because it literally changed my life and productivity. Craig does a weekly podcast with Bedros Keuilian (the
founder of the Fit Body Boot Camp chain).
Craig and Bedros talk about ways to improve your business, your life and your service to the world. It's really motivational straight talk about what you need to do in order to get the life you want. Give it a listen.
I've also been listening to the NPR POLITICS PODCAST. The hosts are doing a wonderful job cover and analyzing the Trump impeachment hearings.
LISTEN.
