Copie's Choice for the weekend of January 10

Happy New Year!

I hope that you had a glorious and safe New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

We had an absolute ball at the big comedy show we did at the San Leandro Performing Arts Center December 31.

Speaking of that venue, Charlie Varon and I will be bringing our collection of monologues on life in the age of Trump, THE GREAT AMERICAN SH*T SHOW, to the San Leandro Performing Arts Center on January 31. Come see the show critics are having as, “The perfect theater piece for our times.”

Get your tickets HERE.

I've been under the weather this week so I've got a couple of things to tell you about thanks to my convalescence.

The Ride of a LifetimeBOOKS

I read two great books this week.

In THE RIDE OF A LIFETIME, Disney CEO Robert Iger takes you on a thoroughly entertaining journey from his beginnings as a gofer at ABC Sports to his history making acquisitions of Lucasfilm, Pixar, Marvel Entertainment and 21st Century Fox.

The book is a fun, interesting and informative read with great tips and insights on leadership.

READ.

I also reread SHARK TANK's Daymond John's book THE POWER OF BROKE where he chronicles the achievements of people who built big businesses from nothing and how keeping a “broke mindset,” even when you have money, is beneficial.

The IrishmanMOVIES

It's been a Netflix week for me. I had an uninterrupted 3 1/2 hour viewing of THE IRISHMAN. It lives up to the hype and is truly a masterpiece. I've got to see it on the big screen.

My suggestion is that you watch it in a sitting without pausing or breaking up the rhythm of the film. It's long, but worth it.

I also saw a Netflix original that isn't getting much buzz but should be.

THE HIGHWAYMEN tells the true story of former Texas Rangers Frank Hamer (played by Kevin Costner) and Maney Gault (Woody Harrelson), the lawmen who killed Bonnie and Clyde.

The thing that's interesting about this movie (aside from the great performances) is that it strips away the folk hero veneer of Bonnie and Clyde. Most films and television projects on the infamous pair tell the story of their escapades from their perspective.

This film takes us on the manhunt from the side of the law and shows us who Bonnie and Clyde really were: a ruthless pair of robbers and murderers unworthy of the adulation they received in life and the deification bestowed upon them in death.

DEFINITELY check it out.

Here's where you can catch me performing in the coming days:
