Happy Friday!
I’ve been in Los Angeles most of the week and didn’t get to as much as I generally do. I’ll hopefully have a very exciting announcement for you soon!
I’ll be heading down to the South Bay to perform NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN tonight (Saturday, Sept. 28) at the Tabard Theater in San Jose. Get your tickets here and join me!
Got a few things to tell you about...

THE WHISTLEBLOWER COMPLAINT
Of course the biggest news of the week has been the launch of an official impeachment inquiry in the House of Representatives. The WHISTLEBLOWER COMPLAINT that triggered
the whole affair has been declassified and released.
Penguin Random House Audio has made an audio book of the nine-page document and you can listen to it for free here.
Listen, then you decide if the issues in the complaint (which have already been mostly verified) warrant Trump’s impeachment.

MARCH
I read the three-volume, award-winning graphic novel MARCH this week. If you aren’t familiar with it, it is the story of Representative John Lewis and his participation in the fight for civil rights.
It’s a fascinating, agonizing, gratifying, disheartening memoir that tells us so many things that our schools somehow managed to omit during discussions of that era.
The art is fantastic and it really fits the mood of the struggle of a poor young black kid who just wants to be treated fairly. From Woolworth sit ins to Freedom Rides to Bloody Sunday to the march from Selma to Montgomery, it’s all there.
I can’t recommend MARCH highly enough. It should be required reading.

PODCAST
THE THING ABOUT PAM is an addictive new true crime podcast from the good folks at DATELINE. It’s about a man who finds his wife dead and is convicted of her murder even though the dead woman’s mysterious new friend Pam got herself named as beneficiary to the wife’s new life insurance policy just days before the murder.
If you like true crime... you’ll love this! Check it out!

RESTAURANTHadn’t been to Oliveto in Oakland’s Rockridge district since my morning television days years ago. I was pleasantly by how good it still is.
Oliveto still has a rotating menu using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. There’s a cafe that serves great pizza, but I suggest you live a little and enjoy the menu of the day in the upstairs dining room.
GO.
By the way, for those who’ve been asking, I’m back on the hunt for the best burger in the nine Bay Area counties. If you’ve got a place for me to check out, send it and the particular burger you want me to try to me at copie@briancopeland.com.
