Happy Weekend!
I begin this week's edition of Copie's Choice with an URGENT APPEAL.
Next Saturday and Sunday evening, October 26 and 27, I'll be performing my
lifesaving show on depression, THE WAITING PERIOD, at the Marsh in San Francisco as part of the Reimagine End of Life Festival.
Over 10 days and dozens of events around San Francisco, Reimagine End of Life explores big questions about life and death. Join the entire Bay Area in a community-wide conversation about dealing with the end of life.
As always, I want to be able to provide the WAITING PERIOD free of charge. In order to
do that, I need to raise what the theater would take in if in fact patrons were paying to see the show. I never want cost to be an impediment to anyone who is depressed or suicidal who might benefit by and seek help after seeing the play.
The Marsh is a registered 501c3 nonprofit and revenue needs to be brought in during scheduled performance times to keep the lights on.
In order to do these shows for free, I need to raise $6000 in the next 7 days. Will you help me right now by making a tax deductible contribution here?
I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP TO PULL THIS OFF.
If you are able to donate $1500 or more, I'll personally take you to dinner at one of my favorite Bay Area eateries. Please help me to help others and give what you can today!

READS
I'm currently listening to the audiobook version of Malcolm Gladwell's latest TALKING TO STRANGERS. It's one of the most interesting listening experiences I've had in a long time.
Rather than just reading his book, Gladwell delivers the material in a podcast style with actual audio and interviews of people he references and discusses as he explores the Sandra Bland case, Bernie Madoff, Amanda Knox, Jerry Sandusky and more in his quest to understand why it's so hard for people to believe the truth when it's right in front of them. This is a MUST LISTEN/READ.
FILM
JUDY
Last week, I raved about Joaquin Phoenix's brilliant performance in JOKER. I wrote that the Academy should start engraving his name on the Oscar now. Well, Renee Zellweger in JUDY is a lock for Best Actress as far as I'm concerned.
WOW. What a performance.
Zellweger plays Judy Garland in the final year of her life as she embarks on a London nightclub engagement in order to earn enough money to get custody of her children, Lorna and Joey Luft. Well, “plays” isn't the right word. “Inhabits.”
PODCAST
During his lifetime, Edward Wayne Edwards confessed to five brutal murders. Since his death eight years ago, he has literally been accused of everything from the Zodiac killings to The Black Dahlia murder to the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey. In this riveting podcast, Edwards' daughter April goes in search of the truth. She knows her father was a cold blooded killer, but... who did he and didn't he murder? Check it out!
By the way, for those who’ve been asking, I’m back on the hunt for the best burger in the nine Bay Area counties. If you’ve got a place for me to check out, send it and the particular burger you want me to try to me at copie@briancopeland.com.
